The Malayan Colugo
This animal looks like a flying squirrel, but it is actually not closely related to rodents or bats. It belongs to an ancient group of mammals called dermopterans, which means “skin wings”. It has a large membrane that stretches from its neck to its limbs, which allows it to glide from tree to tree. It lives in Southeast Asia, where it feeds on leaves, fruits, flowers, and sap.
