This rodent looks like a hybrid of a rabbit and a deer. It has long ears, long legs, a short tail, and brown fur. It lives in the grasslands of Argentina, where it grazes on plants and herbs. It is one of the fastest rodents in the world and can run up to 45 km/h (28 mph). It is monogamous and forms lifelong pairs with its mates. It also shares communal nests with other maras, where it raises its offspring.
