The ostrich is the largest and heaviest living bird and the fastest runner of all birds. It can grow up to 9 feet tall and weigh up to 350 pounds. It has long legs that can sprint up to 43 miles per hour and kick with enough force to kill a lion. It lives in the grasslands and deserts of Africa and Asia, where it feeds on seeds, plants, insects, and small animals. It cannot fly, but it can use its wings for balance and cooling.
