Rap music is built on being able to bragadocious. To be the best rapper, you have to able to do it and do it well.
Hip Hop is the only genre of music in which the artists’ self glorification is a main part of the art form and this has been amplified by M.I. Abaga, a Nigerian Hip Hop/Rap act.
M.I. Abaga in a new cypher ‘The Purification: Martell Cypher 2’ which is currently receiving a lot of buzz on social media stated categorically that only 2 rappers from Ghana could step up to him on their best days.
Thus, to the best knowledge M.I., he is second to none on the continent of Africa as far as rap is concerned. He did not end there, he added that 3 South African rappers and 1 Kenyan rappers are the only rappers in Africa that can could step up to him on their best days.
Although M.I Abaga didn’t mention Sarkodie’s name but the digression is obvious. We all know how highly he rates Sarkodie as he mentioned him in an interview in 2015 as one of the best African rappers ever.
As to whether Sarkodie or the other Ghanaian rapper can step up to him is a matter of time and only a feature or a rap battle can judge that.
