There was a particular debate in Parliament about the number of Parliamentarians who were absent On Tuesday 29th March 2022. The Minority want to attack the clerk of the house for not recording some of their MP’s for being present on that particular day.
However, the Majority Leader Honorable Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu made it clear to the Minority that, it is very bad for them to attack the clerk while the Speaker is left out. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu is of the view that, since Minority do not have the evidence of what they are saying, that is why they want to leave the Speaker out of what they are claiming. But if it is true that some members of the NDC MP’s were in the house on Tuesday and they were marked absent, then Minority have to attack, blame or hold the Speaker and the clerk accountable and not only the Clerk should be attack on that matter.
“If two people fall culprits, why do you single one out and attack the other. The Speaker and the Clerk are together and you want to attack the clerk and leave the Speaker. That was the issue which was brought up by the Deputy minority speaker. The clerk is responsible and accountable to the Speaker. So the Speaker and the clerk are one. You cannot attack the Clerk due to some elapses as you claim and leave the speaker out of it”. – Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu stated.
