After a one-sided Parliament approved the electronic levy bill, Ghanaians were less hopeful that the President of the Republic of Ghana, will listen to the cries of Ghanaians and refuse to assent to the bill which was presented to him. This is because, the President, per the constitutions and procedures for passing a law, had a final say, despite parliament approving it.
Today, however, news reached us that the President has signed and assented to the e-levy bill which has legally paved the way for it to become a law. This got Ghanaians to massively react. Although the President had broken his silence on the e-levy on several occasions, his final ascent to the bill has made some Ghanaians conclude that he is one of the “insensitive” presidents in the history of Ghana. Other Ghanaians chose to still shift the blame to the minority caucus in Parliament for either their hypocrisy or laziness. Check out other reactions.
